Artist's Statement

I moved to the high desert of Southern Utah in 1984. I was overwhelmed by the landscape, overpowered by the view and entranced by the light. I remember thinking at that time “if Gauguin and Van Gogh had seen the south of Utah instead of the south of France, things would be different!” The paintings in this series are about connections. Only recently the science of quantum physics has theorized about what shamans, healers and spiritual seekers have been saying since the dawn of time. That all of creation comes from the same space dust! And all life is connected. And making a change to one thing can change the entire picture!
